This special Puliyodharai (Tamarind Mix) recipe is made in traditional way for many years by specific family. The tradition of making Puliyodharai (Tamarind Mix) for long travel is very common. Specially these were made while taking Padhayathirai (Foot Pilgiremage) for Palani murugan temple. As it would take many days devotees will take this Pulikaichal along with them with a rice bag. If made in right way with traditional ingredients this will last long for months. So at stop points rice will be cooked and tamarind rice will be made.
