Thyme/ Thymol is a hardy perennial shrub, 20-40 cm high, the dried leaves are curled, brownish green color, 6.7 mm long, marketed in whole or ground form. The flavor is aromatic, warm and pungent. Flowers are light violet, two lipids, 5mm long, with hairy glandular calyx.

Thymol, one of the chemicals in thyme, is used with another chemical, chlorhexidine, as a dental varnish to prevent tooth decay.
